       Tidewater Blacksmith's Guild Mission Statement

The Tidewater Blacksmith's Guild is dedicated to preserving the craft of blacksmithing and to increasing public awareness of the history of blacksmithing while at the same time demonstrating that in this automated machine world, things hand made still exist and remain objects of art. The Tidewater Blacksmith's Guild is a local member organization charted under the Artist-Blacksmith's Association of North America Inc. (ABANA), a non-profit organization.

"WARNING! Due to the current high value of scrap, which includes iron and steel, we are receiving a high number of reported thefts of items such as gates, railings and steel stock and also tools, including anvils and leg vices. Be vigilant: just because it's rusty and heavy won't stop it getting stolen, and your insurance may not pay out if you have not taken reasonable steps to secure it, or next time you go to use that only occasionally used tool, it may not be there!

Put it away or secure it somehow to lessen the risk."
